MY DEBUT NOVEL— ABOUT SURVIVAL AND TRANSFORMATION

Available in hardcover, paperback and eBook on Amazon!

Signed paperback copies are available through MY STORE.

Set in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains, Rachel Margaret Drews' debut novel, WILD WOMAN, tells the story of Charlene Louise Montgomery (Charlie), a Guns ‘N’ Roses-loving mountain girl who comes from generations of women to whom spousal abuse is just another part of life, “like fixin’ supper.” After twenty-two years of living a life according to what “don’t work,” her moment of grace comes, empowering her to let go of the need to acquire her violent husband’s attention and to transform her purpose for living.

Her bad-boy brother (Danny) is the closest thing she has to a positive male role model, and he gets her high for the first time when she is just fifteen. A year later, she meets Jimmy Randall Jr., the son of the local tire shop owner, and is transfixed by a desire for him more powerful than any drug. Like all addictions, the downward spiral ensues, leaving a gorge between her dreams of a happy family life and her heavy fisted, shame-based trailer love.

After landing in the hospital for the fifth time in six years, Charlie has a mystical experience with a wild wolf-like woman creature who empowers her with the ability to choose a different path. In the despair of the damned of those addicted, she returns home to live with her Jesus-loving mama. But it is not through her mama's faith that she finds comfort and courage to change. For Charlie, her transformation comes from discovering the Divine in simple circles of recovering women where she surrenders to the process of letting go and living the life of which she could never have dreamed.

Road to Breathwork

I have been on a conscious, spiritual journey for nearly three decades. Initially, I was motivated by feeling lost and wanting to fix my “problems.” Over time that motivation has shifted into a desire to learn more about my gifts and my life’s purpose and to TRUST them!

Gifts: Compassion, Intuition and Light-heartedness
Purpose: To share them with you

That is what led me to Breathwork, a two-stage (some say three) breathing technique and meditation, from my teacher and Master Healer, David Elliott, davidelliott.com. Through my own practice, this type of healing moves energy and connects me to the expansion and nourishment of my own SPIRIT. It is from this place that I want to invite you to try a healing session with me. Even if this sounds too “woo-woo” for you, too out there, it is quite practical in the effect. Scroll down to Healing Sessions to book a session and to experience for yourself:

  • If you’re new to meditation/deep healing practices—to find out what the Breathwork fuss is all about.

  • If you’re an “old hat” in this world of healing—to receive support around your journey.

Wild Woman Archetype

“Within every woman there lives a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing.” - Dr. Clarissa Pinkolla Estes, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype

Dr. Estes’ book inspired elements of my first novel, Wild Woman, about a woman named Charlene Louise Montgomery, who recovers from domestic violence. Charlie’s story is set near the Appalachian Mountains and features a contemporary, yet unexpected, voice for the wild-woman archetype. To learn more, click HERE.

Healing Sessions

(using the Breathwork as a tool to LET GO!)

With my full presence—I listen and guide you toward a journey like no other.

Who Am I? Is the question we will tap into in a session.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to feel into this question FREE of the limitations of how others see us? Free of the expectations from others for us? Free from obligations and constant programming from those around us?

Wouldn’t it be amazing to feel deeply the powerful energy that is yours?

These sessions are structured to create a safe space and to generate a meditative state that allows you to tend to your most precious self and to ask the questions: WHO AM I and WHAT DO I NEED?

Allow yourself the gift of letting go and receiving the benefits of what a Breathwork Healing session with me will give you. Would you like to be in a more relaxed state? That’s just the starting point!

You. Are. Worth It.

Private Sessions (In person or remote via Zoom)

Positive effects can include:

Feeling cared for and guided by your own Wisdom.

Feeling more connected to your own life and others.

Feeling more happiness and joy.

Compassion for your journey, for who you have been and who you are today.

***For those whom I have worked with before, my scheduling system has changed. By clicking the BOOKING button above, you will be sending me an email. Feel free to add your day/time preferences, and we will see what we can do. xo Rachel

THE EXPERIENCE

Rachel held space for my voice long before I was ready to use it. She has held my heart as it thawed from chronic trauma responses like fawning and flight. She GETS IT! And her ability to be present, without shame or judgment, is one of the biggest gifts I’ve ever been given. She is as authentic as they get...a balm for relational trauma. She helps bring you into your body in a safe way that cultivates a deeper relationship to yourself.
— Ingrid Clayton, Ph.D., Psychologist and author of Believing Me: Healing from Narcissistic Abuse and Complex Trauma (Los Angeles)
I’m SO GRATEFUL for Rachel and her brilliant, intuitive heart; she managed to facilitate releasing some deep seated beliefs that have been embedded in my psyche for YEARS! That’s a long time to be carrying around stuff that doesn’t serve me or my heart anymore. Treat yourself to some deep healing work that will challenge and change you for the better.
— Elaine Entenza, Owner of Pilates Brevard, passionate Pilates teacher & mother of two (North Carolina)
Rachel is a highly intuitive healer who works her magic through presence and encouragement. I feel fully supported on my journey, guided by Rachel as I harness the breath to tap in to my inner world. Rachel gently witnesses and guides the internal exploration and connection experience, allowing me to go deep, excavating and honoring my inner spirit, and releasing that which no longer serves.
— EJ, Supervisory attorney, beloved wife/mom/sister/daughter, and always striving-to-be-authentic human (North Carolina)
Rachel held space for me beautifully during a recent breathwork session she led. I felt her kind, understanding presence throughout the experience and she supported me in getting deeper into my body, and out of my thinking brain - a challenge for me for sure. I would highly recommend doing breathwork with her - she’s a natural!
— Victoria Albina, NP, MPH (New York)
Going into my first breathwork session, I had no expectations and, in truth, was a bit nervous about the experience. Within minutes Rachel put me at ease and calmly guided me through the work creating an encouraging space that allowed me to pull my energy and simply be present with myself. After the session I experienced a powerful sense of relaxation and self-awareness that continued into my week at home and work. My breakwork session gave me an energy balance that has allowed me to be more mindful in the moments of my day. I can’t wait for my next session with Rachel.
— KL, Director | Instructional Resource and Design Specialist (South Carolina)
What IS breathwork? I had no idea. I had not, in fact, ever heard of it before my wonderful friend Rachel started leading sessions. I did not know what to expect. And, quite honestly, I was skeptical. It was, well, work, at first. But Rachel was there guiding me through, demonstrating the breathing and playing perfectly chosen music. I allowed myself to relax and be in the moment. I felt energized. And I felt grateful to my friend for introducing me to something new. I look forwarding to “breathworking” again.
— KR, Domestic violence lawyer & mother of two (South Carolina)
If you’re considering breathwork, Rachel is your person! Get in her book!
— Chris Fredrickson, Agent of change & mother of three boys (North Dakota)
